Psychotherapy (also called talk therapy) provides space to slow down, reflect on your experiences, and develop practical tools for managing stress and emotional overwhelm. Many people seek therapy when anxiety, trauma, life stress, or identity related experiences begin to feel difficult to navigate alone.
I provide trauma-informed counseling for adolescents and adults in North Tonawanda, Buffalo, and surrounding Western New York communities. Virtual therapy is also available for clients located anywhere in New York State.
My approach is trauma-informed, neurodiversity affirming, and LGBTQIA+ affirming. Therapy is grounded in respect for each person’s identity, lived experience, and autonomy while drawing on evidence based practices to support meaningful change.
Therapy is tailored to the needs of each individual. Sessions may focus on:
Emotional regulation
Reducing anxiety and panic
Processing trauma and difficult life experiences
Executive functioning support
Identity exploration
Self advocacy and boundary setting
Individuals often seek therapy when trauma, anxiety, neurodevelopmental differences, or identity related stress begin to impact daily life. Therapy provides a space to understand these experiences more clearly and develop strategies that support long-term well-being.
I work with autistic individuals and those with ADHD using a strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming approach. Therapy does not focus on changing who you are, but on supporting well-being and reducing distress.
Sessions may include:
Emotional regulation strategies
Sensory awareness
Executive functioning support
Self advocacy and communication skills
Reducing shame related to masking or social expectations
This approach recognizes neurodivergence as a natural variation in human experience while supporting individuals in navigating environments that may feel challenging.
I provide LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy for children, adolescents and adults. Therapy is grounded in respect for identity, autonomy, and lived experience. This is a space where your identity is not questioned or pathologized. You are welcome to explore your experiences at your own pace, whether you are questioning, navigating change, or feeling grounded in who you are.
Sessions may include:
Gender identity and sexual orientation exploration
Support during coming out or identity transitions
Navigating relationships, family dynamics, and community
Processing experiences of stigma, discrimination, or minority stress
Building self-trust, self-compassion, and emotional regulation
Many LGBTQIA+ individuals have had experiences of being misunderstood or unsupported in healthcare settings. Therapy here is intended to feel steady, respectful, and affirming, with a focus on supporting your overall well-being.
Many people come to therapy carrying the impact of past experiences that continue to affect the present. Trauma-informed therapy focuses on creating a space where safety, choice, and collaboration are prioritized.
When trauma is present, therapy often begins with stabilization and regulation skills before moving toward deeper processing. In some cases, EMDR therapy may also be incorporated when appropriate to support trauma processing.
You can learn more about this approach on the EMDR therapy page.
Therapy can be helpful when you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. It provides a supportive space to explore experiences, build coping strategies, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself.
