The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a structured, listening-based intervention that supports your nervous system through the auditory pathway. Rather than focusing on thoughts or behaviors, SSP works from the bottom up—helping your body build a greater sense of safety, regulation, and connection.
SSP may be a good fit if you or your child often feel:
Overwhelmed or easily dysregulated
Stuck in patterns of anxiety, shutdown, or reactivity
Sensitive to sound or environmental input
Disconnected, on edge, or unable to fully relax
SSP is offered as a guided, individualized process. Your experience is paced carefully, with attention to how your nervous system responds along the way. It may be used to:
Support regulation before beginning deeper trauma work
Increase tolerance for EMDR or other therapies
Reduce sensory and sound sensitivity
Build a foundation for emotional stability and connection
For children, SSP can support flexibility, transitions, and sensory tolerance. For adults, it may help shift long-standing patterns of overwhelm or disconnection.
This is not passive listening. SSP is a supported process that includes preparation, guided listening sessions, and integration. The pace is adjusted to what feels manageable for your system, with ongoing support throughout.

A consultation is the first step to determine if SSP is a good fit. From there, a plan is created that supports safety, pacing, and integration throughout the process.
SSP can be offered in-person in North Tonawanda, NY or, when appropriate, through a supported remote format throughout NYS.
